The Tiongs are a lovely Malaysian family with two children, the picture perfect nuclear family. Before the shoot started, we were slightly concerned about getting the shy children to act natural in front of the camera. We arrived early to acquaint ourselves with them, to “get them going”. Within 5 minutes all our worries evaporated and the shoot went swimmingly well.
Who knew Patrick was such a good baby sitter.
The family wanted something quite relaxed, candid but grounded in reality, so not too much setup shots. We got the family to relax, have a cup of tea and let the children play with their favourite toys. As it often happens, the best shots are taken in-between moments. Being a photographer feels like being a sniper, always waiting for that split second when your subject drops their guard for the shot.
